The so called 'Paul Nemwan dial' is one of the most coveted of all Rolex sports models...although Rolex themselves generally refer to it as an exotic dial, this style of dial was made famous by Paul Newman when he prominently wore it on the cover of an Italian magazine. This particular example is in excellent condition with all the original lume dots in place and totally free of the usually seen edge grazes to the white outer ring.
The watch is literally just back from Rolex service and paperwork notes the exotic dial.
Whilst some of the earlier 6262/4 models have the earlier 6239/41 dials a few have the unique 6262/4 dials that share characteristics with the later oyster dials for models 6263/5 ...unfortunately so many of these have been adulterated to created fake 'Rolex Cosmograph Oyster' dials an unadulterated black 6262 dial such as this one is now a very rare thing !!!
Model 6262/4 was made for only a year or two in 1970/71 so in itself is quite rare, and has the benefit of still being accepted for service by Rolex.
This particular example is more like two watches in one as it has both the steel and bakelite bezels normally seen on model 6264.
as the watch is at RSC now, the buyer has the choice to leave the case as found original, or to have a polish and 'mint it up'
