The Comex diving company in the south of France played an integral part in the development of the Rolex dive watch line up and as a mark of that relationship the company divers were issued with Rolex watches...often carrying the Comex company logo on the dial as well as unique case back engravings. Comex issued Rolex pieces are highly desirable and valuable pieces forming a key part of any collection. This particular example has come from a very well known and longstanding member of the dive community who continues to this day to train the saturation divers of the further through his dive company. John has taken the time to put together a great powerpoint presentation documenting his career and accompanies it with copies of his diver logs from his time initially as a police diver, forward to his time as a Comex diver, and then to his time as a Comex dive supervisor. Testamnony and provenance of this kind are very hard to get hold off.
It should also be noted that whilst most of the Rolex 1665's from this period do not have the serial number engraved inside the back, we have discovered a small grouping at the end of this batch that have both the original 600m 'Pisani' dial and also serial in the back giving full peace of mind the watch was born with this back and this issue number.
