Big Crown James Bond Submariner from original owners

Made for only one year in 1958, the iconic Big Crown submariner model 5510 is a crossover from the earlier 6538 big crown model using similar casing, bezel construction and dial layout, but utilising the first 15@@ calibre movements that became the basis of all subs for the next 25 years.

This superb example is one of the nicest i have seen in a VERY long time. A super glossy dial free of chips or crazing, bold gilt print and chapter ring and great great case.

The watch was sourced from the original owners family and whilst having been maintained by Rolex themselves for many years has benefitted from a service by our watch specialist who has sympathetically serviced the movement ... tickled the case very very gently and reseated the red triangle bezel insert to deliver this fantastic and super rare watch.

Case

Stainless steel oyster case, all engraving crisp and sharp, four strong lugs.

Dial

Wonderful condition gilt 5510 dial, with the associated and totally original lighter 6 o'clock lume marker. Matching and sealed gilt hands, and complemented by the bold red triangle bezel insert in excellent condition.

Bracelet

7206 with 80 end links in nice tight condition
