Launch Model 1655 Explorer 2 box & papers

It's 40 this year ...!!!! and to commemorate the launch of this model Rolex have just launched the new model Explorer 2 with orange hand....but this is the one that started it all.

As a first release this very collectible model has the rare mark 1 dial only usually seen on serial numbers from 2.7 -2.9 million, the mark 1 bezel where the numerals hug in close to the crystal, the mark 1 straight seconds hand...add to that a nice full case and then realize it has even got box and punched papers ...wow !!!

39mm stainless steel . serial number clear and readable. date stamped 71 inside the case-back.

Dial

Pristine mark 1 dial with nice mid tone patina and nicely matching tritium hands.
